ZEN Card: Staff rewarded for being part of eco-network

Businesses and their staff can enjoy a range of discounts on everything from coffee and gym classes to radio advertising and bike accessories as reward for being part of an exciting local eco collective.

The award-winning Zero Emissions Network (ZEN) sees Hackney, Islington and Tower Hamlets councils work with hundreds of businesses in one of the most polluted parts of London to help them reduce pollutants, save money and improve staff health.

More than 620 firms have already signed up to the free service and are enjoying a range of exclusive cash-saving deals.

These include £11,000 off a Nissan electric vehicle, £1,000 of greener travel grants, as well as unique access to free advice and services from travel, energy and green experts - and more.

Jamie Oliver’s head office in Old Street used its grant to install cycle parking for staff; Village Underground venue space, in Shoreditch, bought a pool bike with its; and Zigfrid Von Underbelly, a bar in Hoxton, built staff showers.

Ty Vigrass, Operations Manager at Village Underground, said: “Village Underground and ZEN have forged a very productive partnership which, as a forward-thinking events space, we are really keen to continue to develop.

“Thanks to ZEN, we’ve had a green audit of our venue and received a day of free bicycle maintenance from Dr Bike.

“Our ZEN grant has allowed us to buy a pool bicycle and an on-site repair facility, and we’ll be bringing in bikers’ breakfasts soon to reward staff who choose to cycle to work.”

Now, the new ZEN membership card will see businesses and their employees enjoy further benefits with exclusive offers available to those within the network.

Members can get up to 15 per cent off products in Summer with Monika café, Blaze bike lights, Black Box Coffee, Strongroom Bar & Grill, MyPixxa restaurant, Innerspace-E1 gym and more; as well as an amazing 25 per cent off advertising with Hoxton Radio.

Those in the Zero Emissions Network already enjoy some of the best money and energy-saving deals around. The ZEN Card means even more benefits for our businesses and their staff.

We hope the card will support our local businesses by encouraging those in ZEN to shop with other members, as well as help raise the profile of the network within companies in order to help spread the word further.
