Youth Survey to help shape Young Hackney

Members of the Hackney Youth Parliament are seeking young people’s views on activities and support available to 11 – 19 year olds in the borough.

Hackney’s 2010 Youth Service survey will be one of the first pieces of work undertaken by the members of Hackney Youth Parliament, newly elected in October.

The Youth Parliament will be conducting the survey in partnership with Hackney Council’s Youth Service. The responses will give a picture of the issues that most concern young people, and the information gathered will help to improve services and shape future provision for young people in the borough.

Councillor Rita Krishna, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “It’s vitally important that young people in Hackney have their say, particularly as the Council needs to make considerable reductions in its budget over the next four years, including the amount of money we spend on youth activities. Therefore, we want to hear from young people to ensure that their views are reflected in our decisions on youth services in the future.”

Young people will be able to complete the survey online at: www.younghackney.org/survey2010

The deadline for completing the survey, which takes about 15 minutes, is Wednesday 22 December. Enter your contact details at the end for a chance to win a prize draw worth £30 in Love to Shop vouchers.
