Young Hackney Summer Guide: Your one-stop shop for summer fun

summeractivities-13

After months of lockdown, Young Hackney’s Summer Guide will help direct young people to free and safe activities throughout the school summer holiday.

Young people in Hackney aged 6-19, and up to 25 with SEND, can access hundreds of activities and events across the borough. From sports, arts & crafts and drama sessions to careers advice, leadership programmes and employment opportunities, there's something for everyone.

Young Hackney, the Council’s service for children and young people, has been working with youth organisations across the borough to get an exciting and safe programme of activities together. All venues, including outdoor playgrounds, have been redesigned in line with Government guidelines and have new measures in place to help keep young people and staff safe.

In order to facilitate as many young people as possible, this year all activities will require young people to register in advance.

Cllr Anntoinette Bramble, Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Children's Services and Education
Young people are Hackney’s greatest asset and we want to make sure they have a well deserved summer break. From staying indoors during lockdown and doing school work at home to showing their appreciation for the NHS and front line staff, their response to coronavirus has been outstanding.

As well as keeping young people busy with activities, staff at our Young Hackney youth hubs are able to offer support and helpful advice. Alongside the Summer Activities Guide, we are funding 16 schools to run targeted summer activities and this will support over 600 children and young people in Hackney. I wish all our young people a happy and enjoyable summer.
