Tea dance at Stoke Newington Town Hall, 9 June

BACK by popular demand, a tea dance is set to take place for Hackney’s over-50s on 9 June.

Older residents are being advised to reserve tickets to avoid disappointment for the event, which will take place at the newly refurbished Stoke Newington Town Hall, in Stoke Newington Church Street, between 1pm and 4pm.

The tea dance follows on from extremely successful ones held in January and April at Stoke Newington Town Hall and also last year, including during the summer as part of the Council’s annual Festival for Older People. Those attending will be able to dance the afternoon away and make new friends.

Cllr Jonathan McShane, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “Hackney Council is committed to enabling older residents to lead healthy, active and independent lives, and tea dances are among many such activities the Council puts on which are proving a popular and enjoyable way to help achieve this.”

The musical entertainment will be provided by Mr Wonderful, and tickets for the tea dance cost £3, which can be paid on entry. Light refreshments will also be served.
