Strike action for teachers in England on 27 April and 2 May

Teachers in England represented by the NEU are set to strike on Thursday 27 April and Tuesday 2 May, after the trade unions have rejected the latest pay offer from the government.

Unless a last minute deal is reached, many schools may be closed or functioning with reduced capacity on these dates.

Each school decides individually whether they will be able to stay open or partially open whilst strike action is ongoing. Some schools will close, while others could remain open to particular groups, school years or vulnerable pupils.

Your school will let you know directly if affected. If your school is open, it’s important that you still send your child to attend.

You can find the latest information about which schools are affected, where and when we know them, on the Hackney Council’s website, at education.hackney.gov.uk/school-closures.
