Statement from the Mayor and Cabinet Member for Community Safety

Hackney Town Hall

Following the verdict given today by a jury at the inquest into the death of Rashan Charles, the Mayor of Hackney, Philip Glanville and Cabinet Member for Community Safety, Cllr Caroline Selman, have issued the following statement:

Rashan's death was a tragedy that was felt across the community, and our thoughts remain with his family and friends at what must be a very difficult time for them. We would like to pay tribute to the dignity his family have demonstrated throughout.

We know a lot of people were affected by Rashan's death and outreach youth workers from the Council and the voluntary sector continue to be available in schools, youth hubs and other youth centres, for any young people who have been affected.
