Spring fun for Hackney Homes residents

More than 100 residents came together for fun in the sun at the Hackney Homes Trowbridge Estate fun day last weekend.

A variety of activities were on offer to entertain adults and children alike, from bouncy castles, face-painting to bingo, games, competitions and prizes – there was something for everyone to enjoy.

The day was an opportunity to consult with residents and ask their thoughts about possible energy saving improvements to the estate. Energy consultation provider, Climate Energy was on hand to provide residents with useful tips on saving money on energy bills and with free giveaways.

The mouth-watering smells of BBQ chicken and hot dogs filled the air on Saturday 25 April as residents enjoyed a selection of food, mingled with neighbours and received information on how to get involved in the community. Those who attended also had the opportunity to speak to Hackney Homes staff about the services that they receive.

We continue to provide advice to residents about saving money on energy bills. Fun days on estates are a wonderful way to do this and bring the community together, encouraging local residents to get to know their neighbours as well as raising awareness of the services we provide.

The event showcased a ‘Trowbridge estate’s got talent’ competition that attracted youngsters to come to the stage to sing and entertain the crowds whilst the Trowbridge Estate Senior Citizens Club enjoyed the bingo and raffle.

Pat Byrne, Chair of the Trowbridge Tenants and Residents Association, said: “We’re a fairly new TRA and the fun day has been a really good turnout. One of our main aims is to promote saving energy for residents on the estate. I want to thank Hackney Homes and all who have been involved in making the day such a success.”
