Rickardo Hyatt to join Hackney Council
Housing and development expert Rickardo Hyatt will join Hackney Council as Group Director, Climate, Homes and Economy this summer following a competitive recruitment process.
Rickardo joins from the Greater London Authority, where he is currently Executive Director of Housing and Land, overseeing major developments and regeneration projects across London, and the £4.8bn London affordable housing investment programme. He has also overseen a range of housing-related and other pan-London services for rough sleepers, victims of domestic abuse and other vulnerable Londoners.
In Hackney, Rickardo will lead the Council’s ambitious climate, environment, regeneration, housing, planning, community safety and public realm services.
Local government feels like home, so I’m really excited to be coming to Hackney. I am keen to make a contribution at a local level in an exciting, interesting borough and, having grown up in Lewisham, I feel a connection to Hackney’s diversity and interesting mix of established and new communities and businesses. I am looking forward to supporting the borough’s impressive approach to inclusive growth, its ambitious sustainability agenda, so that no one is left behind.
Rickardo will join the Council in July.
I’m delighted to welcome Rickardo to Hackney, and know he will be a great addition to our leadership team.
The calibre of candidates we saw was fantastic, and also exceptionally diverse. It was a difficult decision but unanimous that Rickardo best met our aspirations. It shows that Hackney is the place to attract highly talented and experienced candidates.
