Water supply issues on Frampton Park Estate
Water supply issues on Frampton Park Estate due to a burst water main affecting supplies in the E9 area. Thames Water are seeking to remedy the situation as quickly as possible.
UPDATE 10AM - THURSDAY 22 JANUARY
We have sent a follow up letter to residents on Frampton Park estate following the resolving of the water supply issues on the estate.
The letter we have sent is below.
Dear Resident
RE Water supply issues on Frampton Park Estate - update
I am writing to further apologise for the issues that residents on the Frampton Park Estate recently faced with their water supply.
The problems were caused by a burst water main affecting Thames Water supplies in the E9 area. While the supply of drinking water to the vast majority of homes was unaffected, there were some where it was and also a number who had a reduction in their secondary water supply, affecting toilets and bathrooms, due to low water pressure.
I fully understand that this situation was hugely frustrating and I want to reassure you that we worked closely with Thames Water - who were responsible for repairing the main - throughout. Both the Council and Thames Water took the incident extremely seriously.
Thankfully, Thames Water restored the water supply and pressure to homes across the estate on Friday 9 January.
We had teams on the estate to check on any homes that had been impacted, including visiting vulnerable residents directly, to ensure that water pressure had returned as expected.
We understand that Thames Water also provided bottled water to those households who were experiencing issues with their water and were on their Priority Services Register (PSR).
The PSR is a free service for those who may need extra support from utility companies due to issues such as a medical condition, having young children, issues with mobility or even require information in a different format or language.
It is free to sign up to and more information can be found here https://www.thameswater.co.uk/help/get-extra-help/priority-services. I would advise anyone eligible to ensure they sign up to this so they can receive any necessary support when needed.
Also anyone living in a Hackney Council home who needs additional help to access, use and benefit from the range of support available from our housing service should also let us know. More information can be found at hackney.gov.uk/residents-with-additional-needs. Anyone needing help to complete the form can call 0208 356 3330 or email neighbourhood@hackney.gov.uk for assistance.
As I say, I understand how difficult this recent situation must have been and while the issue has been fixed by Thames Water if you or any other resident is experiencing any issues or need any additional assistance, please let us know on 020 8356 3691.
Thank you for patience during what was a very difficult time for all those affected.
Yours sincerely

UPDATE 12PM – FRIDAY 9 JANUARY
We can now confirm that water pressure has been restored across the Frampton Park Estate, although a small number of residents may be experiencing some outstanding issues.
Our teams have been on the estate today to check on properties affected, including visiting vulnerable residents directly, to ensure that water pressure has returned as expected.
If you are experiencing any issues or need any additional assistance, please let us know on 020 8356 3691.
No further updates are planned.
UPDATE 7PM - THURSDAY 8 JANUARY
Thames Water has confirmed it has restored water pressure to the E9 area this evening.
Housing engineers are on-site, checking that water pressure is returning to normal levels. This may take a number of hours while water tanks and pipes refill.
We are aware that some homes in the estate are still experiencing lower levels of water pressure. This is believed to be because of 'airlocks', which can occur after a period of water disruption.
We will continue to work with Thames Water to identify all remaining lower water pressure issues, to fully restore water pressure across the estate. You will continue to see more staff across the estate in support of the disruption.
Please check back here tomorrow lunch time for another update.
UPDATE 4PM - THURSDAY 8 JANUARY
Thames Water continues to work to resolve the issue. You will see our engineers onsite with Thames Water this evening as we continue to fix the issue and ensure full services are restored to all.
Please bear with us as some residents may see water pressure levels returned to normal sooner than others.

A number of homes on the Frampton Park Estate have been affected by a water supply issue caused by a burst main.
Thames Water, who are responsible for fixing the main, are seeking to carry out the repairs as soon as possible.
We have written to residents on the estate to update them on the issue and outline the support being provided to them.
The letter issued to residents is below
Letter to residents on the Frampton Park Estate
I am writing to update you on the work being carried out to resolve the water supply issues that residents living on the Frampton Park Estate and the surrounding area are currently having.
I fully appreciate how frustrating this situation has been and continues to be for you. The problems have been caused by a burst water main affecting supplies in the E9 area. Thames Water are responsible for carrying out the repair to the main and are seeking to remedy the situation as quickly as possible.
While the supply of drinking water to the vast majority of the homes impacted has not been affected, we are aware there are some residents who are currently without drinking water. We are also aware that there are a number of households who have seen a reduction in their secondary water supply, affecting toilets and bathrooms, due to low water pressure.
Thames Water are currently carrying out repairs to fix the main, but also are taking temporary steps to minimise the impact of the situation while that permanent solution is put in place.
This includes having a tanker on site that will help enhance the water pressure to the impacted homes, with this remaining in place until the issue is permanently resolved. While this will improve the situation it will not completely restore the pressure to its previous levels. There will be some noise from this, and we apologise in advance for any disruption caused.
Repairs on the main have been completed, flushing is underway and testing is about to take place. Lab results are being expedited as a top priority. Providing the results come back good, pressure should be restored to previous levels at 4pm today
Please ensure all your taps are in the off position if you go out otherwise this could lead to flooding when the water comes back on.
Thames Water are also providing bottled water to households who are experiencing issues with water supply and are on the Priority Services Register (PSR).
To find out more information about the PSR and to sign up visit https://www.thameswater.co.uk/help/get-extra-help/priority-services. If you're not on the PSR, you can call Thames Water on 0800 316 9800. They can help if you have an injury or short-term illness preventing you from leaving the house for water.
Anyone who is continuing to have issues with their water supply should contact Thames Water on 0800 316 9800.
While Thames Water is responsible for carrying out the repair and also providing any necessary bottled water and other assistance to those impacted by the issue, Hackney Council is also committed to supporting any tenant affected.
We have officers on the estate who are checking on residents but if you need any additional assistance please contact the Council on 020 8356 3691.
We will continue to work closely with Thames Water while the situation is resolved and will keep you regularly updated on progress and any issues that may arise by the end of each day via text and on the council website.
Once again, I would like to apologise for the inconvenience this issue has caused you and your family, but I want to reassure you that both the Council and Thames Water are taking the situation extremely seriously.
If you are having issues with your water supply or have any questions about the situation please contact Thames Water on 0800 316 9800.
Yours sincerely
