Statement regarding the murder of Annabel Rook in Hackney

Mayor of Hackney, Caroline Woodley, and Cllr Susan Fajana-Thomas, Cabinet member for community safety and regulatory services, said:

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Annabel Rook following the terrible news this morning. 

“We are working closely with the police and with our partners to support the family during this extremely difficult time. I would ask all to give those affected the privacy and time and space to grieve, and to acknowledge the long-lasting impact upon the family and the local community.

“We want to thank the ambulance, fire and police services for their response and management of this situation.

“Events such as these, whilst incredibly rare, affect people in different ways. Victim Support is a national charity able to help anyone affected by crime and it offers services not only to victims and witnesses, but also to their friends and family.

“Finally we would reiterate the police message that if anyone has information about the incident please call the police on 101 quoting CAD 926/17June or to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
