Ridley Road Market now open on Sundays

Ridley Road Market is now open on Sundays, extending trading at the market to seven days a week bringing a new weekend buzz to one of Hackney’s best-loved trading streets.

The historic market has been trading since the late 1880s and is home to more than 100 stalls. Ridley Road has long been part of the fabric of Dalston, serving local communities with affordable goods and global flavours.

The Sunday market operates as the Ridley Road Sunday Collective launched on Sunday 8 March, 10am-4pm, bringing together a line up of rotating independent traders, makers and food businesses selling a wide range of products, food and handmade goods such as natural skincare to perfume oils, alongside books, clothing, textiles and ceramics. The market also features a selection of food stalls offering a variety of international cuisines, including Thai, Jamaican, Turkish and Italian food.

The new Sunday offer builds on what people already love about Ridley Road during the week: its atmosphere, its diversity and its role as a place where everyday shopping, local enterprise and community life meet. It gives residents and visitors another reason to spend time in Dalston, support small businesses and discover something different on their doorstep.

The Sunday Collective also reflects Hackney’s wider commitment to Ridley Road’s future. A £1 million programme of upgrades to the market was completed in 2023, delivering a greener, safer and more accessible public space, and the adopted Dalston Plan commits to protecting the long-term future of the street market and ensuring future development does not reduce market pitches.

Ridley Road is one of the most important and distinctive markets in our borough, and a vital part of Dalston’s identity. The Sunday Collective is an exciting new addition, giving more local people and visitors the chance to experience the creativity, diversity and entrepreneurial spirit that make Ridley Road so special, and it also provides a valuable platform for traders and small businesses, helping to strengthen our local economy and keep this historic market thriving.
