Louise Humphreys and Naeem Ahmed join Hackney Council’s leadership team

Louise Humphreys and Naeem Ahmed are set to permanently join Hackney Council’s corporate leadership team following their appointments at a meeting of Council on Tuesday 17 December.

Louise Humphreys has been appointed the Council’s Director of Legal, Democratic and Electoral Services and Monitoring Officer. She has acted up to this post since August 2023. Having worked for Hackney for nearly five years, Louise brings a wealth of experience to the Council and has been an essential and stable member of the Corporate Leadership Team for the last 17 months.

Naeem Ahmed has been appointed the Council’s Group Director of Finance and Corporate Resources and Section 151 Officer. He is returning to the Council following a short spell in the private sector. Prior to leaving Hackney he served as Director of Finance for Children & Education and Adults, Health & Integration.

I am delighted to be appointed to this role and I look forward to using my experience to continue to support the work of the Council as it looks to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead. I will continue to work with elected members and colleagues across the Council to ensure that the good governance and high ethical conduct we have all come to expect from this organisation remains at the heart of everything we do.

I am really pleased to be returning to Hackney to lead the Finance & Corporate Resources directorate and to serve as Section 151 officer. These are indeed challenging times, but with challenge comes the opportunity to innovate, strengthen, and shape a resilient array of services to meet the needs of our community. Together, we can truly make Hackney a place for everyone. My priority will be to navigate the Council through the current financial landscape with clarity and purpose, ensuring that financial sustainability remains the golden thread in all our endeavours. I look forward to reconnecting with colleagues and working collaboratively to deliver on our shared vision for Hackney.

I am delighted both Louise and Naeem will be joining me as permanent members of the Council’s corporate leadership team. Both have a wealth of experience they will bring to their roles and I know each will do their utmost for the residents and communities of Hackney. I also want to thank Jackie Moylan for supporting me and the Council for the past 17 months and for serving Hackney so well over her 16-year career. She has been a pivotal member of the leadership team and I wish her all the best for the future.
