Living Wage Rates rise providing boost for Hackney workforce

Councillor Carole Williams, Cabinet Member for Employment, Human Resources and Equalities, has released a statement on this week’s announcement about new Living Wage Rates for 2025/2026

“I very much welcome this week’s announcement of the new real Living Wage rates, which have risen to £13.45 across the UK and £14.80 in London. People in work across Hackney’s communities continue to feel the impact of the cost of living crisis, and these increases will make a huge difference to their lives.

“Hackney, as an employer, is proud to pay the London Living Wage, and it is heartening to see so many local businesses joining the movement. They have shown real leadership in recognising that decent pay - which provides people with stability and security - benefits them too, helping employers attract and retain high quality staff.

“We will continue to work alongside local businesses to ensure as many people as possible across Hackney’s workforce are paid the London Living Wage, strengthening both the local economy and our communities.”
