Hackney’s services for children and young people with SEND to be inspected by Ofsted and the CQC
From 3 November 2025, Hackney’s services supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) will be inspected by Ofsted (Office of Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills) and the CQC (Care Quality Commission).
The joint inspection is organised as part of the Ofsted regular inspection timetable, following the new Area SEND Inspection Framework published in June 2025. It will assess the local area education, health and care services, and will include all children and young people 0-25 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and those receiving SEN Support.
As part of the inspection, Ofsted and the CQC are interested to hear directly from the children and young people benefiting from the help and support available in Hackney, their parents and carers, as well as from practitioners working with them.
To gather these views, the inspectors have shared three surveys: one for children and young people with SEND, one for their parents and carers, and one for practitioners in the borough.
A link to the surveys can be found on the Hackney Local Offer page, together with an introductory video for parents and carers about the inspection.
The surveys will close at 9am on Tuesday 11 November 2025. They can also be accessed directly here.
