Hackney Council to tackle anti-social behaviour head-on with a week of community events
A series of pop-ups will take place next week to help residents work with Hackney Council to tackle Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) head-on.
These events, taking place from Tuesday, 1 July - Friday 4 July, are part of the national ASB Awareness Week (June 30th - July 6th).
The Council aims to make it easier for residents to report ASB, provide better support for those affected, and showcase how different teams and partners are working together to keep Hackney safe.
Residents will also get a chance to see the tools used to prevent ASB and share their own experiences and ideas.
Cllr Susan Fajana Thomas OBE, Cabinet member for community safety and regulatory services, said: “We encourage everyone to come along, get involved, and help strengthen our communities in the fight against anti-social behaviour.
“Your participation will help make Hackney a safer and more enjoyable place to live for everyone.”
Here's where and when you can join the action:
Tuesday 1 July (2-4pm): Yorkshire Grove Estate (Stoke Newington)
Come to the Community Hall or play area on Gunstor Road. This will be an opportunity to connect with local teams and learn about efforts to address ASB in the Stoke Newington area.
Wednesday 2 July (12-5pm): Haggerston Square
Head to the area outside Haggerston Community Centre for a bustling afternoon! There will be information stands, staff to answer your questions, fun activities for all ages, a CCTV van display, and even a police phone marking event from 3 PM to 5 PM to help protect your valuables.
Thursday 3 July (2-6pm): Ridley Road, Dalston
Find us near the junction with St Marks Rise. Similar to Haggerston, expect information, activities, and a police phone marking event after 3 PM. Plus, there will be discussions on good neighbour initiatives, pet welfare, and wellbeing, with refreshments available. Don't miss the Bystander Training by VAWG at McDonald's from 2 PM to 4 PM.
Friday 4 July (2-6pm): The Mount, Upper Clapton Road
Join us at the Community Hall and underpass near the Upper Clapton Road entry. You'll find information stands, activities, and opportunities to speak with staff. There will also be estate walkabouts with resident groups and door-knocking to engage directly with the community.
