Good Evening Hackney! Have your say on the vision for Hackney between 6pm and 6am

Local residents, businesses, visitors, and night time workers are being invited to share their views on how Hackney can make evening and night time a better experience for all those living, visiting and working in the borough.

The Council is asking people to complete a survey about their experiences and activities in Hackney between 6pm and 6am. They want to understand people’s preferences and motivations for spending time in Hackney, including the activities they enjoy, spending habits, as well as feedback on safety, transport and how they could be improved.

Participants’ views will help shape the vision for everything that takes place in Hackney during the evening and night. This includes policies on nightlife, maintaining public spaces, supporting workers, improving safety, transport and high streets.

The aim is to ensure that the borough’s night-time economy is encouraged to grow, making sure that it is sustainable, reflects the needs of local residents, businesses and workers and is inclusive to all.

Anyone can share their views by filling out the online survey before the end of September.

Everyone who completes the survey can also register their interest in taking part in Hackney’s Evening and Night Time Strategy Forum - a representative group of local people who will explore the survey findings and help make recommendations for the strategy.

This forum, made up of businesses, night time workers, and residents, will come together to help shape the strategy during three in-person meetings this autumn. Selected participants will be contacted in September with more information.

Hackney has so much to offer throughout the evening and night - including world-class music venues, bars, restaurants, and great transport links. We’re proud to be home to a vibrant and varied night time economy, which is the third most visited area in London.

We’re developing this new vision for our evening and night time spaces in partnership with local residents, visitors, and businesses to ensure that Hackney can continue to thrive in a way that is fair, safe and inclusive. It will help us balance our support for a vibrant evening and night economy and the wellbeing of our residents.

We encourage everyone to share their views and have a say in shaping our diverse borough.
