Council welcomes new London Growth Plan

Cllr Sam Pallis, Deputy Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, welcomes today's London Growth Plan.

In Hackney, we’re incredibly proud of the strong business community that calls Hackney home. We welcome the Mayor of London’s Growth Plan, which resonates with the business-led economic growth we have experienced in Hackney over the last fourteen years.

We also know that this extraordinary economic growth has to be felt by everyone in the borough. We are committed to playing our part in delivering the Mayor of London's objectives and championing inclusive growth and community wealth building.

The London Growth Plan comes as the Council reviews its own local Economic Development Plan, which, like the London Growth Plan, champions key growth sectors and emphasises that a fair and green economy is central to increasing productivity, generating prosperity and ensuring that economic growth is accessible.

To help inform the Mayor of London’s Growth Plan the Council shared its pioneering research on promoting social businesses. We welcome that many of the recommendations have been incorporated into the plan, and that promoting social businesses, social enterprises, co-ops and mutuals has been put at its heart.

We will continue to work with our partners in City Hall and in central Government to deliver inclusive growth for the people of Hackney.
