A statement on the terrorist attack in Golders Green

A message from Caroline Woodley, Mayor of Hackney

“We are appalled by the news of today’s horrific attack on two Jewish men in Golders Green. Our thoughts are with those affected, and we are incredibly grateful to the emergency services and volunteers from Shomrim and Hatzola for their quick response.

“We know this is a really difficult and worrying time for London's Jewish communities. We are working closely with our local partners, to provide reassurance and support to Hackney’s Jewish communities. Our community enforcement teams are liaising with the police, and safer neighbourhood patrols are being deployed in Stamford Hill to help provide reassurance to our residents.

“Hackney is the proud home to richly diverse communities, and it is more important than ever that we stand together and call out those that try to spread fear and division. Our borough is not, and will never be, a place for hate.”

Caroline Woodley, Mayor of Hackney
