Mayor Glanville announces his Cabinet team

The new Mayor of Hackney, Philip Glanville, has announced his new Cabinet team.
It sees four back bench councillors promoted to the Cabinet, and two new Mayoral Adviser posts created, which will be formally announced next week. A number of these posts will be part time, to enable a greater mix of councillors to take up one of these key positions.
Hackney is one of the most diverse boroughs in the country, and I’m proud to have appointed a Cabinet team which reflects that diversity. There’s a wealth of talent and experience in Hackney, so I’ve created a mixture of positions to ensure that those who are unable to take on a full time post are still able to bring those skills to the table.
The slight increase in the size of the Cabinet reflects the challenges facing the borough over the coming years and, for example, will allow for greater focus on sustainability, apprenticeships, employment and skills, creating more opportunities for volunteering and engagement; preventing homelessness and housing issues such as the affordability of private rented accommodation.
There are some huge challenges ahead, and I’m looking forward to working with my new team towards our ambition of making Hackney a place where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
