Learn about greener choices at Hackney’s Sustainability Day
From the amount of electricity you use, the food you buy, to how you travel – have you thought about how your choices impact the world around you? Visit Hackney’s Sustainability Day on Saturday 30 September to learn more about your choices in leading a more sustainable and energy-efficient lifestyle.
Taking place at Hackney Town Hall Square between 11am-4pm, attendees can visit advice stalls offering information on recycling, growing your own food, lowering utility bills, insulation, cycling and more.
Alongside advice there will also be free refreshments and free activities for families including face painting, a free smoothie bike and a visit from a giant Bumblebee who will explain how bees make honey!
Councillors will be hosting a seminar on the day, discussing how the borough can work together for a greener future. Residents who attend the seminar can bring their ideas on sustainability and have questions answered on the Council’s plans for a greener borough.
The Council is working hard to decarbonise its consumption of energy, improve the sustainability of its housing stock, and deliver better air quality and green infrastructure, but the battles for clean air and against global warming won't be won at the Town Hall alone. Hackney’s Sustainability Day will give residents an opportunity learn more about they can contribute to an environmentally sustainable future for the borough and provide them with an opportunity to ask questions and make recommendations to their Councillors.
