Last chance to enter Hackney in Bloom 2011

Hackney in Bloom closing date Monday 4 July

Hackney Council is calling on green fingered locals to get involved with Hackney in Bloom, a free gardening competition that gives local residents, businesses, schools and communities the opportunity to show off their gardening skills.

Now in its seventh year, the competition supports and encourages gardening, horticulture and environmental sustainability to make Hackney a greener, brighter and better place to live.

Councillor Jonathan McShane, Cabinet Member for Health, Social Care, and Culture said: "Hackney in Bloom is an opportunity for people to show how much they care about their gardens and the local environment. I ve been impressed with the standard of entries, which demonstrate the hard work of local people and support for the Council s continuing desire to make the borough a great place to live, work and visit."

If it grows and it’s in Hackney, you can enter the contest. This year, prizes will be awarded in nine categories and the Council hopes even more people and businesses in the borough will get involved.
