Lansdowne Drive traffic restrictions update

Drivers who break traffic restrictions preventing through-traffic on Lansdowne Drive will receive penalty charge notices from Monday 3 February.

The restrictions allow bikes and buses only to pass through Lansdowne Drive (south-east of the Trederwen Road roundabout) at 7-10am and 3-7pm, Monday to Saturday. They are in place to support the School Street at London Fields Primary, tackle rat-running in the area and improve air quality at peak times.

Following major gas work in the area last summer, enforcement was suspended. It restarted in October, with drivers who broke the restrictions since then receiving warning letters through the post. From Monday, drivers will receive penalty charge notices.

The Lansdowne Drive bus gate supports the School Street at London Fields Primary, tackles rat-running in the area and improves air quality at peak times. We suspended enforcement last year while major gas work took place, with enforcement starting again in October. Since then, to give drivers as much notice as possible, we have been sending warning letters to all those who have violated the restrictions. This bus gate is just one of many measures we’re implementing to tackle pollution and rat-running in Hackney, such as the work we are undertaking to restrict polluting traffic in Stoke Newington and improve Hackney Central, alongside the 110 cycling filters we have installed across the borough.
