Home Care and Telecare Consultation

RS8400__pp

Residents who receive Home Care or TeleCare and their families are being asked for their opinions on the services as well as any ideas for making them better.

Home Care services are widely used across Hackney by people of all ages. Home Care involves carers coming into people's homes to support them in tasks such as getting dressed, cooking and shopping. The TeleCare service consists of sensors and alarms which when triggered, call for help and assistance from the TeleCare call centre.

Receiving Home Care or TeleCare helps people who need support stay in their own homes and communities and live independently as long as possible.

Cllr Chris Kennedy, Cabinet Member for Health, Adult Social Care and Leisure
We really want to ensure our Home and TeleCare support services help residents as much as possible, so if you or your family member receive these services I would urge you to fill in the survey, as your views will then directly shape the new service
Cllr Chris Kennedy, Cabinet Member for Health, Adult Social Care and Leisure

The survey is being run independently by Healthwatch Hackney, you can fill it in online: https://bit.ly/3nsJEj9 and paper copies of the surveys or someone helping you fill it in over the phone can also be requested by calling 0808 164 7664 or emailing info@healthwatchhackney.co.uk. What is TeleCare?

TeleCare is the traditional term used to describe ‘care at a distance’ services for vulnerable people and their carers to enable them to live independently at home.

The service consists of sensors and alarms which when triggered, call for help and assistance from the TeleCare call centre.

The call centre can contact a friend, relative, or the TeleCare response service to attend the vulnerable person at home and assist if required

What is Homecare?

Homecare is when a carer comes to visit a person in their home, it can help someone stay living independently in their own home.

Home Care can help with things like getting out of bed in the morning, washing and dressing, preparing meals and drinks or helping with shopping.
