Help to shape Hackney

Residents and businesses are being invited to have their say to help determine the vision for the borough and how physical development will meet the needs and ambitions of existing and future communities over the next 15 years.

Hackney Council’s Regeneration and Planning Service is producing the policy document that will shape neighbourhoods, town centres, and the transport network, to support growing communities.

Over the next six weeks, the Council is consulting on the Core Strategy Preferred Policy Options document to get feedback on how these preferred policies meet local aspirations.

The views of local residents, businesses and visitors are very important in helping Hackney Council to shape and enhance the borough. The Core Strategy has far-reaching implications, so it is important that every local person and organisation has their say.

As well as setting out a long-term vision, the Core Strategy also has a vital day-to-day function as it will be used as the basis for determining planning applications.

It encourages high quality development across the borough, ensuring services are located where they are most needed by local people. It addresses sustainability and climate change issues, as well as protecting and enhancing the borough’s built heritage. It focuses on providing new homes, improving the town centres and promoting open space.
