Hackney leads drive to secure more small business workspace

Hackney Council has drawn up a list of experienced workspace providers to help the borough's growing number of entrepreneurs and small businesses find appropriate and affordable premises.

The Council is making the list available to promoters and developers to help them form partnerships with workspace providers early in the planning and design of new development schemes.

Cllr Guy Nicholson, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Hackney Council
The Council recognises the important contribution workspace providers make to Hackney's economy. They provide flexible, affordable space for the borough's start-ups as well as for micro, small and medium enterprises as they establish and grow. The Council will use the list to encourage developers to collaborate and partner with leading workspace providers early in the design and planning process, helping to deliver more, high-quality workspace that meets the needs of Hackney's business community.
Cllr Guy Nicholson, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Hackney Council

The Council ran an open procurement process to compile this list of workspace providers. The listed providers are committed to hosting and supporting businesses at different stages of development and across the growing sectors of the borough’s economy.

This list gives a short summary of each of the eight specialist workplace providers, providing contact details and an overview of their experience and the sectors they work in.

The listed providers are:

  • The Brew
  • Cell Projects Space and Studios
  • Central Working
  • The Office Group
  • Shoreditch Trust
  • Shoreditch Works
  • SPACE
  • The Trampery

The Council recognises that this list needs to be a live resource and so a further opportunity for qualified organisations to apply to be on the list will be publicised in early 2014.

Please email business@hackney.gov.uk if you would like to be notified when this opportunity is promoted.
