Fun family learning in Hackney libraries

As part of this year’s Family Learning Festival (16 to 31 October 2010) families are invited to ‘Be Brilliant’ at a range of events being held in Hackney Council’s libraries.

The Family Learning Festival aims to highlight the wide range of learning opportunities on offer and encourage all members of the family to participate in fun activities together. It is a fantastic opportunity for families to come together and take part in free, fun and informal learning activities.

There is a range of activities including music and poetry workshops, yoga, Spanish taster sessions or you can just brush up on your basic Maths skills. There really is something for everyone!

Hackney Council s libraries in partnership with The Learning Trust, local heritage centres and community organisations have put together a fantastic programme of activities for the whole family. All events are free, however some are age specific and children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Check the guide to Family Learning Festival 2010 for more details. There is no need to book unless stated in the programme. Copies are available at www.hackney.gov.uk/cl-libraries-whats-on or from your local library.

Cllr Jonathan McShane Hackney Council Cabinet Member for Community Services said: “Hackney libraries offer a fun way to learn as a family. There is so much going on throughout the week and there really is something for everyone. So go on, why not pop down to your local library and try something new with your family.”

Events are taking place at libraries throughout the borough, and include
