Free summer fun in Dalston square
Dalston Square is the place to be this summer, with loads of events lined up to entertain Hackney residents of all ages.
Hackney Council’s Dalston Square Summer Programme will bring a selection of artists, musicians and activities to the borough that will keep families entertained throughout June till the end of August 2017.
All of the events and activities are free and take place during the long afternoons of the summer months where the weather will be at its finest.
This season’s programme includes:
- Saturday 15 July – Saturday 5 August, 1-4pm: Hackney Playbus and Carnival Crafts – While away your Saturday afternoons making vibrant decorations for the Hackney One Carnival route, listening to live music , and if you are under 5 enjoying the wonderful Hackney Playbus!
- Friday 11, 18 and 25 August, 2-4pm: Games from around the world - Universal Board Games bring games from around the world to the Square for a truly intergenerational event.
- Sunday 16 July, 1pm: Street Orchestra of London - Street Orchestra of London is different to any other orchestra. There are 45 players in total who enthusiastically perform standing up, so the performance feels more welcoming and friendly than a traditional orchestral concert, with no threshold between players and public. Expect all styles of music from baroque to contemporary, jazz to world music and from bluegrass to heavy metal. For all ages, and all music lovers!
This Arts led festival of events in Dalston Square brings together Hackney’s creative community and residents of all ages, from the famous Hackney Playbus to day long Global Games competitions, there is something for everyone to help fill those long summer afternoons and it’s all free!
