Free networking event with creative industry professionals for local young people

Creative Mentor Network Event

Local young creatives and enthusiasts are being encouraged to network with industry professionals at Discover Young Hackney’s networking event, led by the Creative Mentor Network.

The event, which will take place on 23 October at advertising agency Creature London’s headquarters in Shoreditch, will see passionate young people learning about careers in the creative industry from a panel of industry professionals. Attendees will also have the chance to build up their connections at the event, with a post-panel networking session.

The panel will consist of professionals from a range of creative industries, who will share their career stories and advice on how to break into the industry. There will also be a Q&A session.

The panel will feature Kavya Chauhan, Senior Account Director, Social, at Way to Blue; Raja Moussaoui, Policy & Projects Officer at GLA City Hall, Lisa Targett, UK General Manager at Tribe, and Lila Hamilton, Senior Designer at Futerra; and the event will be hosted by Stu Noel-Outhwaite, Chief Creative Officer at Creature London.

Cllr Guy Nicholson, Cabinet Member for Planning, Culture and Inclusive Economy
Creative industries are the driving force behind Hackney’s economic success. For many, becoming part of this success is a real challenge and people often struggle to gain a foothold in the industry. Connecting creative practitioners with younger residents is what sits behind the Discover Young Hackney Festival. This important initiative with the Creative Mentor Network is designed to open doors for younger residents to opportunities and support - offering real help in finding an exciting career in the creative sector. All too often the creative industries are seen as exclusive. In Hackney our response has been to break down barriers and create an inclusive economy where we all have the opportunity to join in and prosper.
