Apply now: Restart Grant for businesses launched
Non-essential retail, hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym businesses could be eligible for a one-off payment of up to £18,000 through the new Restart Grant which launched in Hackney today.
The new scheme is aimed at businesses that deliver in-person services for the general public and will provide a much-needed cash boost to thousands of businesses in the borough as they begin to reopen.
The Restart Grant will support non-essential retail premises with a grant of up to £6,000 while hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care, and gym business premises could be eligible for up to £18,000.
Businesses must have a business rates account in their name to be eligible for the Restart Grant and the amount awarded depends on the rateable value of the premises and type of business.
In the last year Hackney Council has rolled out more than £123 million in coronavirus grants to businesses in the borough, as well as providing ongoing business support through the Hackney Business Network and other Council services.
I’m delighted that the Restart Grant will provide further funding for our business community to help them reopen and kickstart the recovery of the local economy.
Businesses that have already applied for the Local Restriction Support Grant with the Council will not need to apply for the Restart Grant and instead will be automatically assessed. Businesses that qualify for automatic assessment will receive an email from the business grants team with further details today.
An online application form for the Restart Grant is available for businesses who have not previously applied for a Local Restrictions Support Grant from the Council and cannot be automatically assessed.
Applications for the Restart Grant will close on 30 June 2021 and all grants will be paid by no later than 31 July 2021.
