Street sellers told to get legal

Mr John Zenonos, was prosecuted for illegally selling second hand furniture on Barn Street, N16 on 1 February 2008.

The case was heard at Thames Magistrates Court. Mr Zenonos was fined £750 and ordered to pay £750 costs.

Cllr Alan Laing, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods said: “Traders need to apply to the council for a licence if they wish to sell goods on the street. Failure to obtain a proper licence will result in legal action.”

Last month, Mr Zhang Fu was also found guilty for illegal street trading. Mr Zhang Fu was fined £150 and ordered to pay costs of £270 for illegally selling paper fans on Kingsland High Road at Thames Magistrates Court on 25 January 2008.
