Register for Hackney Youth Parliament elections

Your Hackney, Your Future, Your Right

Young people in Hackney aged 11-19 who want to have a voice in local democracy issues are being invited to come forward and make their presence felt by taking part in the Hackney Youth Parliament elections.

Hackney Youth Parliament gives young people in the borough the platform to influence policy and decision making, also the opportunity to use their passion and energy to represent the views of other young people on current issues.

Never before has it been so important to have a voice in local democracy around young people’s issues. If you feel you can make things happen and want to be elected, then you must: a) be 11-19 years old; b) live or go to school in Hackney; c) register with your local area youth forum.

Prospective candidates must register by 9 July to take part in training sessions at the Town Hall, Mare Street, on Saturday 10 and 17 July. The elections take place in October.

Register at: www.younghackney.org/elections or contact the Youth Participation Team - Mandy Richards: 07527 385680; mandy.richards@hackney.gov.uk, or Cat Garrett: 07527 385664; cat.garrett@hackney.gov.uk

You can also pick up a registration form from your local youth club or library.
