Work in Hackney? Then participate in our travel survey and win cash for yourself or business

Hackney Council wants to find out how you get to work as part of a borough-wide survey to encourage greener travel.Employees can win £100 cash, and businesses in Shoreditch can apply for grants of up to £2,000 towards sustainable transport or facilities from the Zero Emissions Network (ZEN).

For example, previous grants have been used to buy electric vehicle charging points, pool bikes, cycle parking, cycle maintenance, transport maps and shower and changing facilities. The survey, which will run from 1-30 September will help the Council understand how people travel to work, what would encourage people to walk and cycle more or reduce their reliance on a car. It will also aim to collate what the Council is doing well in terms of travel and on what it could improve.

Cllr Feryal Demirci, Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Health, Social Care, Transport and Parks
It is vital for the future of our transport planning that we understand how the borough's workforce is travelling to and from their jobs.

We are dedicated to building on our status as London's leading cycling borough and to get even more of our residents and workers biking.

Cycling and walking is good for staff but also benefits businesses too: evidence shows that staff that travel actively are a healthier and a more productive workforce who take fewer sick days. Cycling also reduces taxi and business travel costs.

The Council will share its learning with other employers in the borough so that they too can benefit.

In order to apply for the grant businesses will need at least 30% of their employees to respond, so whatever your experience, we want to hear from you!To take part in the survey, visit: consultation.hackney.gov.uk
