Update: 1-5 Amhurst Road

Update: 1-5 Amhurst Road

Further demolition work is set to take place at 1-5 Amhurst Road, after the facade of number five sustained further damage in the recent bad weather, which led to it becoming structurally dangerous.

Engineers have confirmed that the ground has become too soft to hold up the facade, so the owners propose to hand demolish it to retain the original Victorian brickwork.  Work is expected to begin in the next few days.

The facade remained in tact following a controlled demolition of the Victorian terrace at 1-5 Amhurst Road in November 2013, when members of the public called the Fire Brigade after noticing cracks in the walls at number five. London Fire Brigade contacted Hackney Council and an inspection was carried out, which revealed serious structural damage to the terrace.
