Stick to the "rule of six" and help beat the pandemic

2021.04.16_HFSF_Ro6-Picnic_4x5

We can beat this pandemic together, if we all continue to wash our hands, wear face coverings and give others space – and get vaccinated when it’s our turn

You can do your bit by taking a weekly rapid, symptom-free test as our borough starts to reopen – keeping Hackney safe and protecting your friends and family.

Under current COVID-19 regulations you must:

  • Not meet indoors with people you don't live with or are not in a bubble with
  • Only meet outdoors within the rule of six or a larger group from two households
  • Keep 2m away from those you do not live with or are not in a support bubble with

If everyone keeps following the rules and case numbers stay low, the next step in the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown is set to ease further restrictions on 17 May.

From 17 May people are set to be able to attend indoor leisure activities such as cinemas and restaurants, meet in private homes but:

  • the "rule of six" or two households will apply for indoor gatherings
  • 2m ‘space’ must still be kept between people who are not in the same household
  • You should ensure there is good ventilation and that air is well circulated

There are four conditions for lockdown easing as set out in the government roadmap:

  1. Vaccine programme continues to go as planned
  2. Evidence shows vaccines are reducing deaths and hospitalisations
  3. Infections do not risk surge in hospital admissions
  4. New variants do not change the risk of lifting restrictions
