Special event celebrates Destination Hackney

Hackneyis to showcase Destination Hackney, a celebration of its leisure andcultural offerings in an event at Hackney House, an Olympic periodpop-up expo centre on Shoreditch High Street .   Liveentertainment, demonstrations and special guests including celebritychef Mark Hix will form part of the day-long exhibition.

Theborough boasts a cutting edge music scene; bars and nightlife fromShoreditch to Dalston; restaurants serving global cuisine;internationally renowned art galleries; a thriving café culture; moregreen space than any other inner London borough, and almost one third of the Olympic Park.  The Destination Hackney event takes place on Friday 3 August and will give guests aflavour of some of the visitor highlights on offer to the corporate andleisure visitor as well as being the official launch pad for itsnew online visitors guide www.destinationhackney.co.uk

Learnabout the existing and new luxury hotels that are due to open in theborough; taste some of the food served by some of its best restaurants;see some of the art and creative talent emerging from the many studiosand galleries; enjoy traditional meets contemporary theatreperformances; join in on tours with topics ranging from Hackney'sheritage to its street art, and chat to the people involved in makingHackney the place it is today.

They'llalso be special guest speakers including talks by Mark Hix;restaurateur, Ratnesh Bagdai and VisitEngland's chief executive, JamesBerresford.   Nine piece East London-based brassband, Brass Roots, willprovide the evening entertainment alongside Dalston Superstore residentDJ Squeaky.
