Secondary school places confirmed

Thousands of Hackney pupils have been offered places at secondary schools across the borough, with more than 91% offered a spot at one of their parents’ top three preferences.

2,276 applicants applied for a space at a Hackney secondary school as their first choice, including 290 who live outside of the borough, a sign of how popular the Hackney's schools now are.

I am delighted that we have again be able to ensure the vast majority of pupils have been offered a place at one of their parents' preferences. This is a very anxious time for parents; our schools are more popular than ever, and several are many times oversubscribed, but with 99% of secondary pupils in Hackney attending a school judged to be 'good' or 'outstanding' by Ofsted, no matter where pupils are continuing their education, they're guaranteed some great opportunities.
Cllr Rita Krishna, Cabinet Member for Education and Children's Services, Hackney Council

Parents who have not been allocated a place at one of their chosen schools have either been offered an alternative or will shortly be advised of their options.
