Recycle your unwanted household items at Hackney’s Give or Take event

What might seem like a pile of unwanted household items lurking in the back of your cupboard could be the perfect addition to another person’s home. So why not make those unused bits and bobs a free treat for someone and bring them along to Hackney Council’s next Give or Take Day recycling event on Saturday 17 September, 12 - 4pm, at Leabank Square, off Berkshire Road, E9 5LP?

Organised by the Council’s Recycling Team, the event is part of the Hackney Wick Festival. You can come along and give something you don’t want between 12noon and 1pm, then give and take at the same time from 1pm to 4pm.

Previous events have been a big success, with residents giving away household items such as toys, clothes, books, tools, kitchenware - even bikes and furniture.

Big items such as fridges and washing machines are not accepted, and all smaller electrical items will be safety tested at the event.

A Give or Take Day is the ideal opportunity to say goodbye to those items that you don t need and take the items that you want. Everything is free; no money is exchanged; and you don’t have to give something to take something - simply turn up.
