Party time in Hackney

2012 is cause for many celebrations with the Queen s Jubilee taking place in June; closely followed by the London 2012 Olympic Games in August, of which Hackney is a host borough.

Hackney Council is making it easy for residents to host their own street parties for fewer than 200 guests in the borough by launching a new guide on its website containing all the advice you need, as well as the road closure application form, which is free of charge.

Mayor of Hackney, Jules Pipe, said: "Street parties provide a great opportunity for neighbourhoods to come together. We encourage these events and want to make it as easy as possible for our residents to organise and enjoy such celebrations."

Guidelines are also available for those wanting to host a large (more than 200 guests) or commercial event in the borough. For more information on how to organise a party in Hackney, visit: www.hackney.gov.uk/street-parties
