Oona King visits Hackney library for Jewish Book Week

Former Bethnal Green and Bow MP Oona King visited Hackney Central Library recently to celebrate Jewish Book Week.

Ms King, who now works for the Prime Minister and as a writer, gave an entertaining talk to the audience, discussing her Jewish background, life in the Commons and thoughts on current affairs and then took questions from the floor.

Oona also signed copies of her diaries as an MP – House Music, which is available for loan at Hackney libraries.
6 March - World Book Day - saw Hackney Library Service launch new reading groups at each of the borough’s libaries, and co-host the Hackney Big Read event at Hackney Town Hall Assembly Rooms, featuring Hackney schools’ young Poet Laureate, storytelling and poetry readings.

The events are all part of the new clubs and initiatives launched for the borough-wide Get Hackney Reading campaign. For more information about Hackney Library Service visit: www.hackney.gov.uk/cl-libraries
