Live radio discussion on the 50 years of Hackney

picture001.jpg

Hackney turned the BIG 50 in April. To celebrate, residents of all ages are invited to share their memories of the borough at a live radio discussion.

On Friday 8 May, the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden, will play host to a Remembering ‘65 Listening Party; a free live radio discussion on the 50 years of Hackney that’s open to everyone.

Hackney Council is working with Cultivaters radio producer, oral history practitioner and social broadcaster, Lucia Scazzochio. It will be broadcast live via Spreaker.com

Over the past month older residents have been getting together with younger residents to share their memories of a bygone era.

A selection of conversations have been recorded and will become part of the Hackney Archives collection. A short film made will be exhibited in the Hackney@50 exhibition from June.

In 1965, the London boroughs of Hackney, Shoreditch and Stoke Newington merged to form what is today known as the London Borough of Hackney.

Hackney Museum is also showing the Hackney@50 exhibition, 50 artefacts have been put on display. Each object tells a different story and represents people who live and work in Hackney. The exhibition runs until August.

Come and join us from 3-6pm, Friday 8 May at the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden, 13 Dalston Lane, E8 3DF (Garden entrance located next to Hackney Peace Carnival Mural).
