Help shape the future of Manor House

Community events on 9 and 11 February 2010

Residents, community groups and local businesses are invited to help Hackney Council draw up a draft masterplan to shape the future of Manor House.

The Council is in the early stages of preparing a strategy to improve the area in the north-west corner of the borough and would like to hear views and ideas from the community.

Cllr Guy Nicholson, Hackney Council Cabinet Member for Regeneration and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, said: “The Manor House masterplan provides a key opportunity to shape a new neighbourhood centre around business and commerce. The Woodberry Down regeneration scheme, Finsbury Park and the access to public transport around Manor House make this a unique opportunity for local businesses and the borough. These community events provide residents and businesses the chance to feed their ideas into the development of the new neighbourhood.”

The masterplan is needed to maximise the opportunities that the Woodberry Down regeneration scheme will bring to the area. The draft masterplan aims to create a strong and distinctive place around the Manor House tube station. This could be achieved by improving the environment around the public transport facilties, promoting a mix of employment, retail and residential uses, and encouraging walking and cycling.

Community events:

Tuesday 9 February, 6 to 8pm, Woodberry Down Primary School, Woodberry Grove, London, N4 1SY

Thursday 11 February, 6 to 8pm, Stoke Newington West Reservoir Centre, Green Lanes, London, N4 2HA
