Hackney Youth Parliament’s Pack to School Appeal 2023

Hackney Youth Parliament Pack to School Appeal

From now until 4 August, Hackney Youth Parliament encourages residents in Hackney to support their Pack to School Appeal, which seeks to provide families in need with brand new school equipment.

Each school pack will contain essential equipment for children starting secondary school this September, including a brand new rucksack, pencil case, set of pens, and scientific calculator.

Those that can afford and wish to contribute to the appeal can visit the Young Hackney website for details of the campaign, including what type of items to purchase, as well as suggestions of where to buy them from. Items should be received by Friday 4 August 2023 at Forest Road Youth Hub, E8 3BY, to ensure that young people receive them before school starts. People can choose to donate only some of the items on the list, depending on what they can afford.

Participants will be invited to Hackney Youth Parliament’s Big Thank You Event at the end of August.

Cllr Anntoinette Bramble, Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Education, Young People and Children's Social Care

We know that many families are finding things difficult with the cost of living crisis, and we are incredibly proud of the initiative shown by Hackney Youth Parliament in helping their peers get the school resources they need.

Please take part in Hackney Youth Parliament's Pack to School Appeal if you can, by purchasing some of the items needed, some of which start from £1.99.

Every little contribution makes a difference, but please do not feel that you have to donate if you are not able to. You can still help by sharing the campaign with others, before the deadline of 4 August 2023.

Families that need more support can also access £100 school uniform grants made available by the Council to Year 7 pupils. To find out if you are eligible please go to our website.

Thank you again for your help - it will truly make a difference for young people going back to school.

We have wanted to create this project since we got elected. The Pack to School Appeal will supply many of our young people with school equipment which will help them start secondary school feeling confident and ready - tackling the cost of living crisis and empowering all of our young people to thrive academically.

Young people are the future and we want to support them in reaching their dreams.

If you are unable to provide a full set of school equipment for your child and you could benefit from the appeal, please email hyp@hackney.gov.uk.
