Hackney heritage health walks

Explore Hackney's heritage with five free guided walks in August.

Places are limited and booking is essential. To book your place or join the mailing list to get updates on future heritage walks, email linda.sydow@hackney.gov.uk.

London Fields
Wednesday 7 August  - 11am-12noon

Start: steps Hackney Town Hall. Trace the ‘Porters Path’ through London Fields, telling the story of common land, old trackway to London, Broadway Market, and the development of the park. End: Grade 2 St. Michael and All Angels Church Lansdowne Drive, to see early 1960s murals by John Hayward with coffee and cake provided by the Church’s ‘Over 50s club’

Hackney Church Yard
Saturday 10 August - 11am-12.30pm

Start: steps of St John at Hackney Church. Churchyard walk and exploring the stories of some of those buried there also taking in Clapton Square. End: St John at Hackney Church, for coffee.

Clapton: churches, boxers and change 
Friday 16 August 2013 - 2pm-4pm  

From St John at Hackney via Clapton Square; Round Chapel; Chatsworth Road; Pedro Club.

Hackney Wick: industrial innovation and the post Olympic future
Wednesday 28 August 2013 - 11am-1pm

From Hackney Wick station via Fish Island and Old Ford Lock, finishing up at the View Tube (tea included).
