Hackney Council to review its decision making processes

Town Hall 1

Hackney Council is launching an independent governance review to look into how it handled the events surrounding the resignation of a former councillor.

The review will have no political influence and be led by an independent person. Dawn Carter-McDonald, the Council’s interim Chief Executive, will take all the steps necessary to make sure the review is fair and unbiased.

Dawn Carter-McDonald said: "We're committed as an organisation to being open and accountable. This review will help us continue to work to those principles."

The review's findings and any recommendations made will be shared with Full Council at the earliest opportunity.

Cllr Anntoinette Bramble, Statutory Deputy Mayor

Since I assumed the full responsibilities of my role I have wanted to establish what the Council can do to learn from recent events. The Council is taking these steps in the interest of transparency, to review and potentially improve our decision making.
