Hackney Council meets with Westbrook Partners to discuss New Era Estate

Hackney Town Hall

The Mayor of Hackney Jules Pipe and Cabinet Member for Housing, Cllr Philip Glanville, today met with Westbook Partners, the owners of the New Era Estate.

It follows the news that Westbrook Partners is planning to issue eviction notices and clear the estate to refurbish it for rental at full market value with no affordable housing.

Cllr Philip Glanville, Cabinet Member for Housing
The Mayor of Hackney and I met with Westbrook Partners today to urge them start to talking to residents of the New Era Estate, who have been left in the dark about what will happen to their homes. We urged them to appoint new managing agents as soon as possible and to start a dialogue with New Era Estate tenants. The meeting did not reach a solution, which in the long-run we obviously want to see, but Westbrook Partners agreed to meet with us again, and we will continue to fight for residents of New Era Estate in every way we can.
