Hackney Council to host first public fireworks display in borough in 10 years

Residents are set to have a blast as Hackney Council prepares to host the first public fireworks display in the borough in more than 10 years.

The spectacular bonfire night celebration in, Stoke Newington, will be held on 8 November and will be synchronised to music. 

Illuminated stilt-walkers, an aerialist performing in an 11m-high installation, fire-walkers, plus food and drink stalls are just some of the entertainment set to accompany the pyromusical on the family-friendly bill.

I'm delighted that the Council is able to once again host what is guaranteed to be a highlight of the borough's social calendar. As well as the fireworks, which will be set to a variety of songs, there will also be a wealth of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.

The fireworks have been tested by animal welfare experts and specially chosen so as not to cause distress to the park’s animals.

Hackney resident tickets cost £7.50 for adults and £2.50 for children, and £8.50 and £3.50 respectively for non-residents.

 

Please note, you will be required to provide proof of your eligibility along with proof of residency before tickets will be released.

Tickets cannot be bought on the day and entry will only be permitted with a valid ticket.

The Council is offering 250 free tickets for Hackney residents who are in receipt of benefits or allowances, including:

  • Income support;
  • Housing benefit;
  • Council Tax Benefit;
  • Jobseekers allowance (income based);
  • Incapacity Benefit;
  • Hackney Carers Card;
  • Key Connection Card or Severe Disablement Allowance.

They will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Maximum two tickets per household.
