Case study:

Sheena Nadunga, 24, Hackney Downs

Course: Maths

Sheena did not gain GCSE maths at school, which affected her work chances. She used the Hackney Opportunities website to enrol on the Hackney Adult Learning maths course. The course has meant Sheena is now fulfilling her aspiration of becoming a nurse, having begun a degree in Mental Health Nursing.

She said: “My teacher was so supportive, always making sure I understood and giving me the help I didn't receive when I was at school. I would advise anybody to get their GCSE in maths, it’s never too late, don't wait like I did. Take every opportunity you can, don’t let things hold you back!”
