Festive Feast returns to Stoke Newington

With the success of last year s Festive Feast, Hackney Council and partners are offering another exciting programme of seasonal events combining entertainment for all ages with a unique shopping experience right on your doorstep at Stoke Newington Town Hall.

The festivities begin with the Christmas Tea Dance on Wednesday 7 December featuring music by Mr Wonderful. Last year the Christmas Market attracted over 3,000 visitors, so be sure to visit on 10 and 11 December, when stallholders will be selling arts and crafts, vintage clothing, festive food, gifts and more. Market weekend will also feature a charitable take on Santa’s Grotto, for anyone who wishes to donate a present for children staying at Homerton Hospital over Christmas.

Fans of orchestral music can view a festive performance by Hackney Proms on Sunday 18 December. Other cultural highlights include big band music by Five Star Swing on 15 December, Film Fiesta on 19 December and a Silent Disco on 17 December. The programme culminates with a performance by the London Gay Men’s Chorus on 20 December.

Cllr Samantha Lloyd, Cabinet Member for Finance, said: “After the success of 2010’s Festive Feast we are really looking forward to making this year’s event even better. It’s a great opportunity to get in the spirit of Christmas in Stoke Newington – a location that is well known for its great atmosphere and unique selection of places to shop, eat and drink.”
