Disabled Access Day meet the artists at Hackney Museum

11 March 2017
Hackney Museum
1.30-3.30pm
Take part in creating art this Disabled Access Day, as Hackney Museum hosts ‘We Are Artists’, an art exhibition and interactive workshop curated by the We Are Artists museum art group. The group have created art for the temporary display inspired by Hackney that explores identity and challenges people's expectations and ideas about what disability means.
On 11 March visitors can explore the ‘We Are Artists’ exhibition as well as taking part in an interactive afternoon of pop up performances, a meet and greet with disabled artists, and creative making workshops for all ages.
One of the interactive performances includes a drawing to music session, which will involve visual artists responding to sounds created by musicians, which members of the public can get involved with.
A group member and artist with the We Are Artists group, wanted to encourage people to come along to Disabled Access Day at the museum, Mr Chang said: "I like to be here, at the Hackney Museum, to draw, to be with friends".
The ‘We Are Artists’ exhibition will be available until 20 March 2017 and has been developed in partnership with Advance UK’s Community Aspirations Team.

Everyone is able to create art, and art is a great tool to not only bring people together but also explore our differences and identities in a positive way. I would encourage people to come to Hackney Museum for Disabled Access Day and get involved with some of the great work from the We Are Artists group.
Hackney Museum is accessible and has turning space for wheel chair users within its exhibitions space. You can find Hackney Museums full disabled access specification on Euan’s Guide: www.euansguide.com/venues/hackney-museum-london-1607.
