Community Safety Wardens Sanjay Hussein, Sam Pieters and Barry Fox were among 60 police officers, staff and others who received Borough Commanders Commendations from Chief Superintendent Lawrence on Thursday 8 December.

The Hackney Council Community Safety Wardens were commended for saving the life of a young female resident who was attempting to take her own life in February of this year.

The awards were given in front of an audience of local community leaders, friends, family, the Hackney Senior Leadership Team and MP for Hackney South and Shoreditch, Meg Hillier.

Cllr Caroline Sellman, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Enforcement
Our Community Safety Wardens work incredibly hard to keep residents and visitors to the borough safe. Hackney is a quieter, cleaner and more pleasant place to live and work because of them. The commendation for saving the life of a young woman is an important example of the bravery and commitment of our wardens 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Cllr Caroline Sellman, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Enforcement
